Sorry for the delay. I promised I would try to figure it out few days before, but due to technical problems with my 3G I couldn’t and the fact that it worked on my 2G cannot be enough proof that the application is working well.
I was investigating every single case what is wrong with the application. The application should save/modify/create files under this path:
/var/mobile/Library/SMS/
it’s hard-coded as it should be, but instead it saves the files somewhere else – till now I’ve not found out where, what is strange to me. Next strange thing is that the application was only tested on iPhone 2G and I’ve received a lot of feedback, that it’s not working on 3G and 3GS – I guess iPhone 2G is not popular anymore – that’s why I’ve not received any reports about SMS Switcher on 2G. But to my surprise it was also buggy on my friend’s 2G when I installed SMS Swticher from Cydia.
My last idea was to install the application on my friend’s iPhone 2G in the same way I installed it on mine – via SSH. And to my surprise it finally worked! Manual installation also via SSH on my other friend’s 3G also worked.
So to conclude. (I guess) SMS Switcher works great. Today and yesterday as well. I guess the installation from Cydia changes some privileges or sth like this. Below you can download the built application you can send (via Fugu on Mac OS X or WinSCP on Windows) to your device to /Applications and respring. You should delete first SMS Switcher using Cydia if you have it installed.

The 4-year-old daughter of Ax Men slinger Jesse Browning has been mauled to death by the family’s Rottweiler.
Ashlynn Anderson’s body was discovered by her mother outside on the lawn Sunday, according to officials in Astoria, Ore., where the family resides.
“Apparently, the dog just snapped,” says Clatsop County Sheriff Tom Bergin. “We have detectives working on investigating set the dog off]…We are going to give the family a day or two to grieve before we interview them.”
Browning called 911 and the girl was airlifted to a Portland hospital, but pronounced dead on arrival.
There was no immediate comment from the History Channel, which airs the popular lumberjack series.
Bergin says the attack came four months to the day after deputies removed a Rottweiler from the premises after it attacked an adult family member; that animal was euthanized. The Brownings’ two other Rottweilers have been quarantined at a shelter and are awaiting their fate.
“It’s from my understanding…only one of the dogs was involved in the attack but both dogs were seized by animal control services,” said Alan Oja, assistant chief of the Astoria Police Department, which received the initial dispatch.
“It’s a terrible tragedy.”

Since I installed the SMS Switcher I have several problems.
First, the app doesn’t work. So I can’t do what it was sopossed to do. I Ca’n install it, but I can’t see the SMS to move, or archivate.
But the most important thing, and what os really anoying me, is that from that moment, I can’t “reply” the SMS that I receive from other people.
If I reply an SMS I get an error and the SMS is not sent.
The only way I have to send an SMS now is following those steps:
1 Delete the SMS that o received
2 Enter in the contact list
3 Choose the person I want to send the SMS
4 Select “send message”
5 write the Text
6 Push send
No other way to send an SMS. No straight from the SMS app or just replying, no other way!

strange thing,.. yes it was a permission problem.
But still the sms.db is not listest. Instead my created ones are still there although I uninstalled the package before. I guess this indicates the programm still uses the wrong path “somewhere else”!?
btw. 3G FW 3.0.1, jb’d T-Mobile, too
Working better —- but:
1. The option to create a copy (aka duplicate) of the existing unnamed db does not work. It always creates a ‘zero’ length file and appears in Documents directory.
2. Setting an alternate db to active … does not work. The original always remains active.
2a. Note: An unnamed.db exists in the documents directory — however it is zero length. S/B 278KB. The active database (sms.db in SMS folder) has not changed (still 278K) with orig messages.
3G FW 3.0.1, jb’d T-Mobile. Manually copied SMS Switcher.app to /Applications folder using WinSCP. Changed permissions/ownership as stated in my reply to martin.

Easy fix. It a permission/ownership problem.
1: Change group ownership for everything to admin
2: Change SMS Switcher.app permissions to 755
3: Inside SMS Switcher.app folder,
change all *.nib and SMS Switcher permissions to 755
Reboot. SMS Switcher now appears on the springboard and loads. 3G, FW 3.0.1 Note: I tried to match the settings of MobileSMS.app (standard Apple SMS app)
BTW: Will report in a separate post if i find any problems. At least the primary sms.db is listed as ‘unnamed’. A good start
Still confused. I SSH the app into my device and load it up. I change the permissions to 755. But I’m completely confused on how this whole thing works. I don’t seem to get the app to make multiple libraries, or even hide the other text from stuff. Like I have friends, family, and business. But they all show up still in the same section. Im soooo lost in this app. I’ll send my e-mail to anyone who is willing to fully explain the use and function of this app.
